This is a tree I draw regularly. It is outside my window in Bushwick. About 10 years ago I ordered the tree from the city and they came and planted it. It has grown to almost the height of my building and some day will provide shade. I love seeing it grow and the birds that rest on the top branches.

Automatic Drawings begin as a doodle and become a stream of consciousness drawing. Sometimes the repetition of pattern or a series of seemingly unrelated images appear.

This drawing is a plan drawing for a larger sculpture that I plan to make. I keep saying I will make it while I am upstate but when I am here I cannot do it. The quiet, the trees, keep me from making noise and working. My studio in Brooklyn cannot handle the sawdust... alas.. it will happen in due time.

This is drawing from some pots on my deck upstate. Rosemary and Black Eyed Susans. I am proud to say the black eyed susan's were grown from scratch. The seed.. I am not such a green thumb so these flowers mean alot!

I bought some tubes of acrylic paint for a painting class I had to teach in July and decided I would make some paintings. I am in no way a painter but I am really lured by the color and the plastic look of the paint. This is my first experiment.

This spring in the mountains I always knew if people were home by their smokstack.

This cross-section of a tree that was cut down on a trail had the most vivid orange against the green / brown background. I visited this slice 2 times this year, in 2 seasons.
